Pre pregnancy care & counselling

Pre-conception counseling (also called pre-conceptual counseling) is a meeting with a health-care professional (generally a physician or midwife) by a woman before attempting to become pregnant.

Preconception counseling is defined as health education and promotion. The goal of preconception care is health education and promotion, risk assessment, and intervention before pregnancy to reduce the chances of poor perinatal outcomes.

The following are important steps to help you get ready for the healthiest pregnancy possible.

  • Up your folic acid. Folic acid is a B vitamin that our bodies use to make new cells.
  • Schedule a preconception checkup.
  • Stop smoking and drinking alcohol.
  • Get to a healthy weight.
